11月14日中午，由CSSA组织的【品茗·香槟】——UIUC华人学者论坛活动在Roger Adams Laboratory 116房间成功举行。UIUC六位来自不同领域的杰出华人教授及八十余名就读与UIUC的本科生、研究生、访问学者参加了讨论活动。出席论坛的嘉宾教授有：Huimin Zhao教授、Hong Li教授、Martin G. H. Wu教授、Yizhou Yu教授、Xin Chen教授和Yanfeng Ouyang教授。

本次论坛是由CSSA-研究生部/校友会组织，继2006年之后的又一次教授与学生的直接互动交流的活动。旨在通过教授们分享自己的心路历程，为初到美国留学的同学们适应美国文化、生活提出建议，为忙于学习和科研的同学们分享经验，以及为处于人生选择点的同学们提供职业规划参考。同时，这些优秀的华人教授为同学们树立了个各方面的表率，他们的人生经验与奋斗历程对同学们的学业和职业规划起到了积极的指导和启迪作用。

讨论会上，主持人赵倩懿代表同学询问了教授们如何克服初到美国遇到的语言、交流上的问题，当年促成教授们来美国留学的原因，教授们在科研道路上的经验，在读书、工作期间分别是如何平衡学业与科研、事业与家庭的，以及工业界与学术界的选择时应该注意的问题等等。教授们与同学们分享了自己的精彩的人生故事、宝贵的经验和以及感悟等等，并高屋建瓴地提出了很多学业、职业发展的建议。讨论会后，同学们与教授进行了一对一的提问。

教授们和同学们普遍反应此类活动在对于在美华人的交流有必要，也很有意义。同学们纷纷表示收获很大，本次论坛激发了自己对人生目标和职业发展更加深入的思考，同时，教授们的事迹也为自己的人生选择提供了参考。教授们也表示，自己很高兴与同学们交流，乐意参与此类活动，愿意尽自己所能支持CSSA开展各种交流活动。

“You have to know something about everything and everything about something.”

（被问及家庭与事业的关系时说）非洲有一句谚语：走得快，一个人走；走得远，一起走。

Yanfeng Ouyang:

脸皮厚，英语才能学得好！

Huimin Zhao:

不要急功近利，学好课程的同时应该注重科研。

PhD毕业时应该Mature, Creative and Independent。

Yizhou Yu:

做科研的起点可以从找比自己优秀的人合作开始。

PhD应该追着导师跑，而不是让导师追着你跑。

Xin Chen:

无论准备今后立身于学术界还是工业界，都要注重培养自己的交流能力。

l WHO ARE WE?

这是一群热爱舞蹈的人们，每个人都有丰富的跳舞经验和舞台表演经验。

主要讲员包括Kevin (丘天瑀)， 陈心远，钟如韵。

Kevin (丘天瑀)：主讲Hip-Hop，Popping， breaking， 和glowstick。

在高中曾经担任校舞蹈队主力，参加过多次表演，其中包括面对3600名观众的大型演出。现任校Illini Glow Stick Club以及Floor Lovers Illini的成员。

陈心远：主讲HipHop 和Popping。 有丰富表演经验。

钟如韵：主讲女生Hip-Hop, 和NewJazz。有丰富表演经验。

除此之外，我们会根据成员的要求邀请UIUC其他著名舞队（如LEGEND， DANCE TO THE EXTREME）的队员来做不同领域做专门讲解

l WHAT DO WE DO?

UIUC街舞社的授课内容包括Hip-hop， popping， breaking， 和glowstick。另外，我们也会根据成员要求，不定期安排一些相关活动，如跟其他舞队合作一起排舞，组织成员观看舞蹈表演等等。

首次课内容将会包括一些热身运动以及基本hiphop动作的介绍。我们欢迎每一个对舞蹈有兴趣的朋友参加，即使你是初学者，请不必担心，我们会一步步教你，让你感受舞蹈的独特魅力！

Info List 是模仿mailing list做的公告性质页面。大家只要登陆UIUCer.com，点击Info List 按钮，就可以看到它了。在这个页面上，用户发布的公告会按照发布时间逆序显示，点击公告标题可以看到相应的内容。页面右上角还有“发帖”和“更多”两个链接：点击“发帖”，用户可以用BBS账号发布私人公告；点击“更多”，用户可以直达BBS的Info List版块查看以往的所有私人公告。

UIUC CSSA 社团交流部

新成立的UIUC-CSSA社团交流部，旨在促进UC地区华人社团、俱乐部的发展和交流，使其更好为广大同学和华人服务。

UIUC CSSA 社团/俱乐部合作条例

新社团合作流程:

1. 有意向的发起者可以将想法和初步方案提交CSSA社团交流部，Email：yujiehsia@gmail.com

2. CSSA设立社团交流基金，发起者可同时向CSSA社团交流部申请启动资金$50；

3. 发起者进行人员招募或活动宣传，CSSA协同负责宣传；

4. 发起者进行初步试运行，观察参与度和效果；

5. 试运行一定时间后，CSSA社团交流部会派负责人进行评估；

6. 评估结果：

A. 合格 （CSSA为该社团颁发认证并提供资金支持$200）；

B. 观察 （需要加以改进）；

C. 不合格 （CSSA不会为该社团颁发认证和提供资金支持）；

7. CSSA对评估合格社团会进行定期复审，保证社团健康运营，如发现严重不健康运营，可对撤销原有认证并停止资金支持；

老社团合作流程：

1. 原有社团负责人与CSSA社团交流部进行接触；

2. 社团交流部对现有社团活动进行评估，如需改进提出意见；

3. CSSA对符合要求的社团进行帮助宣传和资金支持；

合作条件：

1. 面向所有华人招募成员；(当然可以面向更多受众)

2. 每年举行一次以上邀请所有同学 观赏/参与的比赛/友谊赛/Open House；

3. 达到一定的参与人数或社区影响力；

4. 定期举行活动；

5. 有固定的活动地点和负责人；

6. 有明确的活动宗旨和目的；

7. 活动内容积极向上；

CSSA：

CSSA鼓励建立新社团的建立，也会对社团建立初期遇到的困难进行帮助；

CSSA鼓励已有社团在原先基础上进行巩固和提高；

CSSA鼓励社团之间的交流，促进社团健康发展。

UIUC CSSA社团/俱乐部间交流活动计划

1. CSSA认证的社团/俱乐部，每年应由负责人或负责人指定其内成员参加其他2-3个社团、俱乐部的活动(次数不限)，交流经验；

2. CSSA认证的社团/俱乐部，每年的面向公众比赛/友谊赛/Open House期间，通过调查问卷形式向公众征求意见，以求改进；

3. 每年CSSA会对认证的社团/俱乐部进行评比，对最佳俱乐部奖励（提高资金支持额度至$300/年）。

羽毛球俱乐部

CSSA 下面的羽毛球俱乐部，不是一个学校注册的学生机构，不是会员制也不收会费。

俱乐部的工作主要有三：一，组织羽毛球爱好者定期活动。目前的固定活动时间是每周五7-10pm，ARC。学校的羽毛球场地提供球网，也可以出借球拍。球需要自己带，而且绝大多数人自己带趁手兵器。二，为初学者组织系统的训练，基本每周一次活动，每学期尽可能一轮（6-8次）训练，便于大家入门。三，在CSSA的大力支持下，组织各种比赛和与附近学校的羽毛球交流；传统比赛包括每个秋天的新生杯和每个春天全校范围的公开赛。除此之外，羽毛球俱乐部还提供穿弦和羽毛球购买的服务以及为大家一个寻找球友交流球技以及球场外吃喝玩乐的平台（这个主要通过BBS完成）。

【校友会】伊利诺伊大学中国校友项目

近期，伊利诺伊大学校友会(University of Illinois Alumni Association) 正在积极筹办伊利诺伊大学中国校友项目。此项目致力于收集和更新伊利诺伊大学中国校友信息数据库，使母校得以有效地与这些校友保持联络。由于学校工作人员对中国文化以及语言的了解有限， 我们在实施过程中受到了很大的阻力。

中国校友项目是我校Alumni Association 特别拨款开展的第一个亚洲范围内的校友数据统计项目，如果成果明显， Alumni Association 将会继续向亚洲其他国家开展类似的项目。 学校对这个项目给予了很大的期望， 同时这个项目也能很好的帮助杰出的中国校友在学校得到应有的荣誉及地位。

项目：

前面又给大家介绍过CLUB的舞蹈学习范围，主要有 Jazz NEWJAZZ, HIPHOP,雷鬼，芭蕾舞基训，中国舞，踢踏舞。由于这些舞种不可能在短期内全部实施授课。因为我们的时间有限。所以，第一个月的课程，我们会以NEWJAZZ 和HIPHOP为主。中国舞、芭蕾、踢踏舞等其他舞种的学习，可以在开班以后，俱乐部成员商议具体的课程计划再作进一步的安排。一下先介绍一下11月份的课程计划。

1、基础训练

前50分钟会带大家一起做体能，肌肉及韧带关节的训练；这个环节主要用舞蹈基训结合瑜伽的气息运用来达到对身体预热和健身的效果。

2、爵士舞基础训练（身体协调性训练，主要针对NEWJAZZ和HIPHOP）

在前面的基础训练结束以后，会有20分钟的爵士舞基本训练。这个环节主要是把大家的头、颈、肩、胸、腰、胯、膝盖的活动开，并且结合音乐来训练以上各个肌肉段和关节的运动协调性，培养更好的基础舞感

3、舞蹈组合（NewJazz&Hiphop）

剩下的时间用来学习一个短的舞蹈组合。这个主要是通过成品舞蹈，巩固大家的基础训练。

注：第一第二个环节的训练师持续性的，就是整个11月份每次课都需要进行这些训练，但是舞蹈组合环节，会根据大家的学习情况在一个组合学习完全以后再进入新的组合学习

授课老师：丁丁——毕业于北京舞蹈学院，在大学期间，曾受邀担任过北京外交学院艺术团舞蹈老师，主要教授中国舞及爵士舞，北京体育大学附中舞蹈班爵士舞及剧目课老师。

【Badminton Club】CSSA羽毛球新生杯比赛结果

10月10号在ARC举行的2009 CSSA 羽毛球新生杯共有34人参加比赛，其中男单14人，女单6人，男双6队，女双4队，混双8队。

参赛新生有羽毛球初学者，也有低中高以及专业选手。整个比赛紧张激烈，精彩纷呈，围观者不计其数。经过六个小时的角逐厮杀，各个项目的奖项为以下同学囊括：

【OCEF】Facebook challenge champaign for OCEF

亲爱的朋友:

您好！感谢您对海外中国教育基金会(Overseas China Education, or

OCEF)的关注和支持。也许您已经通过媒体或亲友知道此事，Facebook正在进行一个慈善募捐竞赛(http://www.causes.com)，最终捐款人次(而非金额)最多的慈善组织将获得$50,000，$25,000及$10,000不等的奖金。此外，每天捐款人次位居前两位的慈善组织将获得$1,000和$500的当日竞赛奖励。整个活动将于2009年11月6日结束。

由于经济危机的影响，OCEF今年上半年的募款额只有去年同期的42%，如果这样的情况持续下去，基金会将被迫削减一部分资助项目，一些受资助的贫困学生将无法继续学业。因此我们非常需要您的参与，以帮助我们赢取最终的大奖，从而帮助尽可能多的失学儿童重返校园。

OCEF在10月17日才参加此次活动，随即就取得了很好的成绩，连续赢得了17日，18日和19日的第一以及当日的$1,000奖金。目前OCEF的捐款金额已经突破15，000美元，累计1000多人次（此数字在facebook每一分钟都在更新），总名次已经急升至第1位。在您的帮助下，我们非常有希望在11月6日成为第一名并为乡村孩子们赢得$50,000奖金！

您可以用以下方式帮OCEF：

This workshop, a joint effort between ISSS and McKinley Heath Center, will gear you up for the upcoming drop in temperatures. Illinois winters are cold, and it is important to be well prepared to stay healthy and safe. In the talk, the profile of Beijing Institute of Technology ( BIT ) will be introduced firstly, including its history, location, faculty, students, teaching, research and international collaboration. Then the profile of the School of Information and Electronics ( SIE ) of BIT will be introduced briefly, and the highlight research of the SIE of BIT will be introduced, including the embedded real-time digital signal processing, radar system and signal processing, remote sensing information processing, satellite navigation technology, microwave and millimeter wave circuit, computational electromagnetic, speech and video compression, etc.

Prof. Long also wants to present the opportunities for working in SIE of BIT as a faculty member. He will introduce the policies of university in detail.

Prof. Teng Long’s Biography

Teng Long received the B.Sc. degree in electronic engineering from University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), Hefei, China, in 1989 and the M. Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT), Beijing, China, in 1991 and 1995, respectively.

From January 1999 to August 1999, he was a Visiting Associate Professor with the Department of Electrical Engineering, Stanford University, Stanford, CA. From March 2002 to September 2002, he was a Visiting Scholar with the Department of Electric Engineering, London University, London, England. Since September 2000, he has been a Full Professor with the Department of Electronic Engineering and the Director of the Institute of Radar Technology, Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing, China. Now he is the Dean of the School of Information and Electronics, Beijing Institute of Technology. He is also the Chairman of the Beijing Society of Radar, Vice-Chairman of the Chinese Society of Signal Processing, and a Fellow of the Institute of Engineering and Institute of the United Kingdom.

His research interests include embedded real-time digital signal processing, remote sensing signal processing, radar signal processing, and satellite navigation signal processing.

【CSSA体育部】3v3篮球赛圆满结束，CSBC队获得冠军

10月10日早10点30分，CSSA体育部在ARC举办了第一届三对三篮球赛，共18支队伍报名参加了此次比赛。

整天的比赛火热激烈，场上队员个个生龙活虎，拼抢积极，所有参赛队员都全身心投入到比赛中，奋力拚搏。场外的观众饶有兴致地观看比赛，

不时为队员打气、喝彩，气氛热烈，与场内的气氛融为一体。比赛一直持续到下午3点半，最终CSBC队（李枫，秦大未，张元宏，陈迪龙）脱颖而出，

最终获得冠军，并获得了价值80刀的Walmart消费券。在紧张的比赛过程当中，我们还举办了三分比赛和投篮比赛，CSBC队的张元宏和Lilbears队的Yuji Tsuzuki获得了三分和趣味投篮比赛的胜利者。

本次篮球比赛，让同学们在紧张的学习之余放松身心，增强了个人体质，展现了团队精神，，凝聚了团队核心力，真正的实现了“友谊第一、比赛第二”，“团队第一、个人第二”的预期目的。

体育部在未来数月内还将举办各类体育比赛，我们期待着UI各路豪杰下次精彩的演出。

【OCEF-UIUC】OCEF征集Football比赛志愿者（Oct. 3）

海外中国教育基金会（Oversea China Education Foundation，简称OCEF）征集志愿者参加10月3号进行的Illinois vs. Penn State的football比赛。

我们的志愿者将在比赛时担任领座员，负责引导观众迅速到达指定座位。比赛开始时间为10月3号的2:30pm，志援者的工作时间为11:30 am-5:30pm，

约6个小时。志愿者的工资将由学校统一发放到OCEF@UIUC的学校帐户中，而后用于资助国内的贫困学生。

THE JOB:

Our client, an industry leader in truck and trailer suspension manufacturing and distribution, is seeking a Chinese native with US education to support a company growth initiative in China.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Manages all manufacturing engineering activities for the plant and is a key member of the plant management staff. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop a Chinese presence and physical operation in the growing Chinese automotive market.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Manage projects that will affect the future of the organization insuring cost, timing and specification targets are met

-Evaluate new product concepts and designs and provide input regarding manufacturability and cost

-Perform conceptual process definition to evaluate design alternatives

-Oversee design, procurement, and implementation of fabrication, welding, and assembly systems

-Perform cost analysis and manufacturing capacity evaluation for new and existing products

-Assurance that all applicable quality standards are met in the introduction of new products

-Continually improves manufacturing processes, operator instructions and plant layout

-Participate on Simultaneous Process & Product Development (SPPD) teams

-Manage the A.P.Q.P. process associated with launching new processes

-Develops and analyzes statistical data and product specifications to determine present standards and establish proposed quality and reliability of finished product

-Works with internal customers to reduce costs, resolve issues and improve quality

-All other duties as assigned

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS REQUIRED:

-B.S. Engineering Degree and/or

-B.S. Welding Engineering Degree helpful

-Minimum of 5 years management experience

-Background in one of the following industries required: Automotive, Heavy Truck, Agricultural Equipment, Recreational Vehicle or Appliance

-Experience with process development and A.P.Q.P. required

-Experience in justification and procurement of capital equipment is required

-Experience with Uni-Graphics, Pro-E, or AutoCAD preferred

-G.D.& T. and ISO-TS16949 experience required

-Lean Manufacturing experience preferred

-Knowledge of D.F.M. practices preferred

-Displays strong leadership and communication skills to achieve individual and team goals

-Professionalism and integrity to communicate and work with employees at all levels of the organization

-Results oriented with a strong sense of personal responsibility and accountability
